“A No Decision is a Decision”
Matthew 27:11-26

“He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me, scatters.” – Luke 11:23

These are the very words of Jesus. And what they mean is that when it comes to Jesus you are either for Him or against Him, you cannot be neutral.

Now, you might say, “I’m not sure, I am undecided.”But the reality is that there is no such thing; a no decision is a decision. It is a decision not to decide, and according to Jesus, that is a decision against Him. And we see that very dynamic played out in our passage this morning.

When Jesus was brought before Pontius Pilate for sentencing, Pilate knew He was innocent.  But fearing the people he “washed his hands” of the ordeal, but did he?

‘When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd.  “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “It is your responsibility!”’ [Matt 27:24, NIV]

But the fact of the matter is that Pilate wasnot innocent, he was responsible for his actions; his inaction was his guilt. He therefore will stand before the Lord on Judgment Day for his “no decision.”

What about you? Have you decided to follow Jesus? Or are you neutral, a no decision, as well?

Because the same is true for everyone. When it comes to Jesus, there is no such thing as “neutral.”  You are either for Him or against Him.

However, you can make a definite decision for Him now. You can be for Him by simply asking Him to forgive you of your sins and be Lord of your life.

Remember, however, andthis is important; a no decision is really a decision against when it comes to Christ.

And Jesus Himself said this plainly.“He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me, scatters.”

It is one or the other. There is no neutral when it comes to Christ.
