“A Faithful and Blameless Remnant”
Revelation 14:1-5

“And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of God.”  [Rev 14:5]

These are the 144,000 in Rev 7, 12,000 from every tribe of Israel, who are sold out for the Lord in the Tribulation.  They are men; spiritually, morally, and physically pure, and God uses them in a way that is unique in all history.

Never before has there been such a large group of evangelists, so committed, and their reward is great.  They will be a remnant of Israel who survive the Tribulation, live into the Millennium, and populate the Land to the fullness of her boundaries as given to Abraham back in Gen15:18-21.  God has been waiting for a group of men such as these; committed, not bowing to the wayward world; but staying focused, true, and set apart for God.  In these the Lord will fulfill the Abrahamic Covenant.

These are the blessings of a sanctified life.  Salvation comes through grace; God’s unmerited favor that opens the door to justification by faith in Christ as Lord.  Our sin imputed to Jesus upon the Cross, and in return His righteousness imputed to us.  But that is only the beginning!

There follows a powerful set apart life to be lived, and this is shown in these 144,000 Jewish men who live through the most trying time in history.  They will persevere through the greatest trials ever, and in turn will receive the greatest blessings ever; because of their steadfastness and set apartness to God.

For the child of God; being happy is being holy.  Set apartness brings true joy in any circumstance.  We can run after the things of this world but the problem is that these “things” are temporal.  It is the eternal Person of Jesus Christ who makes all the difference, and He will never leave you nor forsake you.  This is the sense of the 144,000.  They have Jesus and are good to go in anything and everything the world has to throw at them.

It is an important application that we can apply today.  Are you good to go with Jesus?  Even if you never received another spiritual or physical blessing, are you good to go with Jesus?  Because if you are then you are good to go period!  It is an extremely powerful and secure place to be; and the blessings are enormous.

However, if you are building your life on anything or anyone other than Jesus; whether it is a job, education, personal relationship, or any temporal thing; then you are building on shaky ground.

The song we sing is true:  “On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.  All other ground is sinking sand.”
